The past month in China

Yesterday I caught up on my family's visit to China, but I also have some photos from our adventures around town since my last post.  I tend not to venture to the Metro grocery store on the weekends as it can be incredibly busy and take a lot longer than usual to check out, one week I had to go on a Saturday and so I went in the middle of the afternoon with my fingers crossed for the least amount of craziness, what I found is that it's like Costco on a Saturday, lots of vendors showing their products and things you can taste test.  I did not partake in any of the taste testing, but i did take some photos!

In Shanghai from our hotel room on the 38th floor, you could see a really nice rooftop "backyard".

We found a park with a really nice sand area, it was fun for Grace to put her toes in the sand for the first time and Blake had fun playing with his friend Lucy!  There was a lake that you could drive  a little power boat around, a large bridge you could walk out to the water one, and a tall tower you could climb up and see around the park!

We celebrated a friend's 1st birthday (he's not pictured), here is Blake and his friend Ali in their party hats!  That is one other thing about China not being a kid friendly or maybe the Chinese just aren't as party crazy as the Americans, there aren't a lot of places to actually have a birthday party!  Most people have a few friend to their house or go to a restaurant.  In the US there is Peter Piper Pizza, parks with armadas, party places, indoor bounce houses, and many more locations for a party.  Plus, if you have your own home you probably have more space than a Chinese apartment and even a yard or a pool for a party at home.

Walking out to go to the market one day, the elevator had furniture in it, the hallway downstairs had furniture, the walkway outside had furniture and there were 4 men and two trucks.  This is apparently how you move in China!

In the train station i found an interesting vending machine, no i did not purchase from it, but it appears to have animal parts neatly packaged inside for your eating pleasure.

Grace is now 6 months old, she can sit up on her own, she can scoot a little and army crawl around the floor, everything she grabs goes in her mouth!  We are trying solids, so far she likes pumpkin and dislikes apples, banana and carrots!

Other than that we haven't been up to much out of the ordinary, gymnastics on Sundays for Blake, school Monday, Wednesday and Friday for him too!  Brian works and Grace and I play :)  Here are some photos of the kiddos from the past few weeks just because i think they are so cute!

on the boat at the park!

Blake with his friends at the aquarium!
Until next time.....
