This is a motorized bike that was carrying a bunch of brooms. Wasabi and soy sauce almonds, ewwww. The aisle at the grocery store of foot baths you can purchase, so many to choose from :) Then a photo of a lady with and without eyelash extensions, they have so many shops here for eyelash extensions and the amount of people that comment on Blake's long eyelashes here is amazing.
Brian and I made it out to see a movie for the first time, we saw the new Star Wars. I have to say this was my first Star War's movie, i wasn't too impressed but it was so nice to get out and see a movie and have a babysitter! The tickets are about the $9 for a 3D Imax movie, we got a 85oz. popcorn and 2 32oz. sodas for $5 total, they only have caramel corn, no butter popcorn here, no add your own butter and seasonings, but it was good. They have no candy to choose from but you can get a hot dog, french fries, and popcorn. They also had a vending machine for unique and kids size 3D glasses.
Driving down to the other part of our city called Wujin there was this factory that was easy to spot with the large smoke stack and you see this a lot around China. I have no idea what they produce there but thought you might like to see.
We were lucky enough to be invited into a Chinese person's home that Brian works with and they are from the northern part of China where dumplings are very popular, in the south where we are, steam buns are more common. We were shown the process of making the dumplings from scratch and rolling them all, everything was by hand from the individual circular pieces to create each dumpling which look similar to wontons. I have to say they were the most delicious dumplings i have had while being here in China, Blake even got in on the action!
Found Yoplait yogurt, finally thick and creamy yogurt in China! Usually the yogurt here is drinkable and very thin.
Here is a bike with a propane tank attached, not sure if he is transporting it or trying to motorize his bike. The second is a motorized bike for transportation, you can take these to get around instead of a taxi in some locations. You have some Chicken and Spicy flavored Fritos, the new McDonald's menu with chicken tofu vegetable nuggets and a black bun again. Then for New Year's Eve they were hanging lucky money on a tree outside of a restaurant.
Blake wanted his photo taken, this is a very popular cartoon character in China. We ordered Pizza Hut one night and received these holiday photo props as a free gift with our pizza. Then this was something i found on Taobao, did not order but found it hilarious, they claim it is used to help teach a child to walk. Finally, our visa photos for our renewal, don't we all look so happy!
This was a setup outside of one of the housing compounds, they were selling all sorts of things, to sell stuff on the side of the road like this at home is not allowed anymore.
Some of the fruit at the play place we take Blake to sometimes, they have candied fruit and fresh fruit. For about $3 they will juice you something fresh, orange, watermelon, carrot and apple juice are all pretty common here.
These are some photos of our trip to Wuxi, we went for New Year's. It is located about 20 minutes by train from us and on the other side of the large Taihu lake. We had a nice time seeing Turtle peninsula and Fairy Island. We walked around the park a bit, it was pretty cold out and we were bundled up and had the kids in the stroller, I am still recovering with my shoulder so Brian got to push them around the whole time, up hill and down. Once we got to the island there was an animal show that Blake really enjoyed, he got to give the bird money that flew to his arm and grabbed it and then got a prize.
Until next time....
