Baby Blake Arrived!!!

I know it has been a while since i have posted but we have had our hands full with baby Blake!  After his long awaited arrival Blake Sander Hudson came to us one week late.

*October 27, 2012 @ 2:28am
* 8 lbs. 3 ozs.
*21.5 inches long

After trying everything suggested to me to go into labor such as walking, eating pineapple, acupuncture and acupressure massage, the doctor decided to try inducing me with gels on Thursday October 25th, we did two rounds of the gel with no luck, still 1 cm dilated and 100% effaced.  This baby didn't want to come, and no wonder, his dad was three weeks late, just trying to follow suit.  My induction was scheduled for 7am Friday October 26th with a 5:30am check-in.  Brian and I surprisingly got a good nights sleep and showed up at the hospital right on time!  We got checked in and the doctor came in to determine the best treatment for me and baby.  They decided to put in a balloon that would be inflated with water to help dilate me, at 4 cm the balloon should fall out on its own to let us know we are on our way, but the balloon along with the pitocin drip they started could only be in for 12 hours.  We waited and waited, walked the halls, rolled on the exercise ball, watched a movie.....pretty much just waited for baby!  After a while i started to feel some contractions, and after a few more hours they were pretty intense, we were at 10 hours and i told the nurse i thought i needed some more medication because i was really feeling the contractions, when she checked me i was more than 5 cm but the balloon hadn't fallen out since it was stuck to baby's head, how frustrating!  But we were happy to be on our way after getting close to the 12 hour mark where they would have deflated the balloon, stopped pitocin and sent me home.  Thank goodness we were going to have a baby soon, we were so relieved.  After continuing to dilate and getting to 9 1/2 cm we got the doctor back in the room and I started to push for about 2.5 hours.  At 2:28am, Saturday October 27th we met our little guy!  What a cutie he was so precious and we just couldn't get enough of looking at him.  We spent the next two days in the hospital and then we were ready to head home for this new adventure.

Once getting home we learned what our lives would be like with a little one, changing diapers, feeding him, rocking him, and trying to understand what he needed when he would cry.  I have to say the first two weeks were an adjustment period but we worked together and managed to get a little sleep, eat most of our meals and take care of the little guy together.  Brian is loving being a dad and I just adore Blake and can't imagine not being a mom.  We are looking forward to all of our friends and family meeting him and watching him grow!

We are so grateful to have a healthy baby and after the long journey we went on to have him we couldn't have asked for a better baby.  We are in awe of him and so in love.
